BLOG SERIES: SELECTED BY YAHWEH - 2. CHOSEN

But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:

1 Peter 2:9 (KJV)

Chosen ones standing out

INTRODUCTION

Life can be brutal at times, even for those chosen by Yahweh. The circumstances surrounding us may many times make us question whether we are chosen.

But it is precisely the hardships that we face and overcome that speak of our calling. All the disciples were martyred in the end. But that did not mean they were not chosen as I will show you.

CHOSEN TO WITNESS AND SHEW FORTH THE PRAISES OF YESHUA

It has been a real thorn in my flesh. For a season all my eyes could see were the perceived continual disappointment after disappointment. And not only that, but also the ridicule, mockery, and persecution I had to endure from the enemy of my soul. At times it made me question God's willingness to stand by me and protect me.

If He was, why would they "get away" with all of this? Maybe I do not have the Holy Spirit after all? But then again, did Paul not get thrown into prison? Did he not get stoned multiple times? Did most of the disciples not get martyred? Did not all of them at some point get thrown into prison? They did.

Our prosperity should never be measured on our worldly possessions or even our current circumstances. Nor should our identity. Despite all the saints endured, it still did not mean they were not chosen.

Enduring and persevering through all the ordeals was a good sign they were. As John 15: 16 (NIV) says, "You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit—fruit that will last—and so that whatever you ask in my name the Father will give you."

Chosen they were and targeted just as Yeshua was. The enemy genuinely wants to destroy us. They wanted to destroy the 12 disciples too. But as promised they produced the good fruit even in the face of death.

Are constant disappointments in your life also causing you pain? Does it make you doubt your calling? Perhaps the waiting is making you question it all? Let me tell you. God has not forsaken you, and neither will He ever leave you. He is by you.

You are chosen. You have been chosen and you are victorious despite the current worldly circumstances telling you the opposite. You are already seated in the Heavenly places with Yeshua.

CONCLUSION

Even if our circumstances may say the opposite, the truth is that we are chosen. We have been selected and predestined and despite what others may say, that is the truth.

Application

Thank you Father for choosing me. I did not choose you, nor do I deserve to have been chosen by you. Still, you chose me and appointed me for such a time as this. Guide me and shepherd me. Bring me towards the fulfillment of all my destinies.
