A WHISPER

Victor tended to be a very calm boy. Not much ever got to him. Seeing him fuming with his face colored all red from the anger that was ready to explode forth was a great surprise to his friends.
All was going so well. The sky was without so much as a cloud; it was warm, and there was a slight breeze cooling down the heated bodies at the soccer field. Victor and his buddies opted to put aside their baseball gloves for a game of soccer.
They were joined by a group of friends from the other block. It was supposed to be just a simple and quick friendly spar, but it was not to be.
Victor’s team was already up 1:0 and about to add to the scoreboard. They were pressing hard on the opposing team. Their opponents became more aggressive in their defending until one of them bodychecked Victor to the ground.
Quickly, Victor got up to protest when a ball hit him straight in his face. There he stood for a moment getting his bearings, listening to the protests of his friends. He was getting progressively more agitated and angry, overhearing their mocking and dismissive attitude. His face turned red, and his gaze narrowed down on his target of fury.
The ball gently rolled toward him, just about to stop at his feet. Victor was struck with the desire to let his opponent face his own medicine. He was going to kick the ball right at him, when a voice, like in a whisper, brought a bible verse from Leviticus 19:18 to his remembrance and caused him to pause.
““Do not seek revenge or bear a grudge against anyone among your people, but love your neighbor as yourself. I am the LORD.”
Leviticus 19: 18 (niv)
A supernatural calm came over Victor. He slowly began to feel peace overwhelm the anger and darkness. When he finally looked back up again, he realized their opponents were leaving. The game was over, much to the relief of Victor. He himself retired home in need to meditate and seek God in prayer.
