INTRODUCTION

Standing at a cliff's edge looking out at the sea and being battered by a chilly wind was Fred. Since he could remember, he had a certain fascination with water, especially oceans and seas. He was observing the waves crashing one after the other against the cliff. He was thinking to himself, 'How majestic'. Then another thought passed through his mind, 'You must be even more majestic, Addir, Creator of all, Divine.'

ADDIR - MAJESTIC, MIGHTY, STRONG

The Hebrew word addir means majestic, mighty, strong, noble, and glorious. It is an adjective and originates from the verb adar, meaning "to expand", "to be great", "to be glorious", "magnificent". (2, 3)

ADDIR AS A TITLE

Yahweh is often described as Addir. It is an epithet or descriptive attribute for His supreme power and majesty. He is majestic in holiness and majestic in power. (4)

This title was not reserved only for God. God chose to partner with men, the image-bearers of His glory. Even noble and strong leaders in the Bible were often described as Addir. (4)

Anyone put in a position of authority and responsibility can be called Addir. As we align with God and operate in His image, we walk in a place of power and righteousness. To maintain it, we need to remain in alignment with God by abiding in Him. Yeshua Himself said on multiple occasions, "Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me." (5)

YESHUA ADDIR

No better man ever walked on earth than Yeshua. He is well known for His grace, mercy, kindness, and compassion. Yeshua was also majestic, strong, and righteous. He came to put the face on God, as Pastor Jim Baker likes to say. Now we are to become more like Him with each day.

CONCLUSION

Majestic is the Most High. So is His only begotten Son, Yeshua. Both are addir. Addir is the Hebrew word for majestic, glorious, strong. The word derives from the verb adar meaning "to expand", "to be great", "to be glorious", "magnificent". The title was not only used as an epithet for God but also for strong, majestic, and noble men in positions of authority. We too can become addir as we are given authority and responsibility and abide in Yeshua.

Abba, empower and train us to become great Image-bearers of your glory. During this week, reveal to us the steps we could take to bring it to fruition.
