BLOG SERIES: GOD, MY REDEEMER - 5. THE REDEEMER OF LOST YEARS

“I will repay you for the years the locusts have eaten— the great locust and the young locust, the other locusts and the locust swarm— my great army that I sent among you. You will have plenty to eat, until you are full, and you will praise the name of the LORD your God, who has worked wonders for you; never again will my people be shamed. Then you will know that I am in Israel, that I am the LORD your God, and that there is no other; never again will my people be shamed.

Joel 2:25-27 (NIV)

INTRODUCTION

Bound to sin we have been without our Lord. Bound to the selfish nature of the flesh. Bound by the fear of death and many years we may have lost because of it.

Yeshua came to release us from bondage to sin and he came to proclaim the favorable year of the Lord. All that was lost was to be restored. All that was stolen was to be renewed.

And He did so, He restored to us our health, and wealth and also redeemed us back to Yahweh. He redeemed us all the lost years. And in an instant, He could do so again. 

REDEEMER OF LOST YEARS

Before our walk with the Lord started, we were all bound to sin. We were sinful and sinners. Being under the vice of the kingdom of darkness.

Many things did not go well for us, many things the enemy may have stolen from us. Many years may have been taken from us. And delayed we may have been or rather it may have appeared to have been so.

Yeshua came to proclaim the year of the Jubilee - the favorable year of the Lord - according to Scripture in Luke 4: 8-19 (NIV), “The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.” 

In the favorable year of the Lord, people returned to their allotted property. This way intergenerational poverty was prevented in Israel.

It occurred after the end of every seven sabbath years - after every 50 years. In such a manner all the years of poverty, all the years of lost opportunity were restored to every single jew. 

Yeshua in like manner restored to us all the years that the locusts have eaten too. All the years of wandering in the desert and being bound to sin. All the years of spiritual and physical poverty.

He came to restore our health, wealth, our hope, and relationship with Yahweh. No matter how many years have seemed lost, Yahweh can in but an instant restore all that was lost.

No matter how impossible the situation may appear, Yahweh can in a second provide an exit, open a door that no man can shut, and bring a return far greater than imagined. And it can all come upon us in an instant. And He can accelerate us toward the fulfillment of our destinies.  

CONCLUSION

Lost we may have been, lost to sin, and separated from Yahweh. Many years have been lost wandering in the desert. Many opportunities may have passed us by.

But Yeshua came to release us from our sin and bondage to it. He came to release us from poverty and to proclaim the favorable year of the Lord.

He came to restore what people lost throughout the previous cycles. Now that we walk with Him, in but an instant He can restore to us what may have been lost. 

Application

Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for remembering me. For redeeming all the years that have been lost to me. Thank you for releasing me to walk in abundance and prosperity.
