By surprise, death was to take Messiah’s enemies. For their evil, they were to receive their reward.
Judas betrayed Yeshua for a few silver coins, which he later threw back into the temple after remorse set in, as mentioned in Matthew 27:1-5 (NIV).

The reward he reaped for his evil deed was far greater than merely silver coins. He met his untimely death. Realizing his mistake, remorse guided him to commit suicide. Though he felt remorseful, he was still not repentant. As a result, condemnation and guilt led him to take his own life.
