Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; 26 and whoever lives by believing in me will never die. Do you believe this?”
John 11: 25-26 (NIV)

INTRODUCTION
The Hebrew word for revival, resurrection, and rebirth is tchiya. It derives from the root het, yod, hei, and is closely related to the Hebrew word for life, chai. Rebirth, resurrection, and revival are powerful moves of the Holy Spirit. None of them can be achieved without the Spirit’s involvement. They lead one to repentance, awakening, redemption, righteous living, and the promise of eternal life.
ON THE VERGE OF TCHIYA
The ground was all cracked up. There was no greenery or water in sight. A place once full of bloom and vibrant colors was now painted in nothing but dull gray and brown. Even the skies seemed to agree; the grey clouds were adding to the gloom by shielding the sun from giving its shine. Everywhere eyes would look, there seemed to be nothing but emptiness to see. Rock. Dried up bush. Rock. Crack. Dried up ground. A little sprinkle. Dried up bush. No, wait. A little sprinkle!? Eyes could not believe, but true it was. There, in the desert, a tiny sprinkle of water was flowing up from the underground cavern. A further inspection revealed tiny saplings were springing forth from the ground along the path the water was taking. Amidst all the desolation, a sign of new beginnings and rebirth was taking place. The place was on the verge of tchiya.
THE HEBREW WORD TCHIYA
The Hebrew word for rebirth, revival, and resurrection is tchiya, תְּחִיָּה. It derives from the Hebrew root het, yod, hei (ח-י-ה) and is related to the word for life, chai. It signifies a return to life, vitality, or a renewed state. (2)
REBIRTH, REVIVAL, AND RESURRECTION
As established, the Hebrew word tchiya encompasses the meanings of rebirth, revival, and resurrection.
Rebirth in the biblical sense, which speaks of being "born again," signifies a spiritual transformation and renewal. This transformation is believed to be a work of the Holy Spirit, resulting in a new creation in Christ. (3)
Revival, on the other hand, refers to a period of renewed spiritual interest or awakening among believers. There is often a deepened sense of the presence of God, repentance from sin, and a return to a fervent pursuit of holiness and righteousness. (4)
Resurrection refers to the act of rising from the dead. It signifies the victory over death and the promise of eternal life and the ultimate fulfillment of God's redemptive plan through Jesus Christ. Resurrection is a call to righteous living. (5)
BY MY SPIRIT
A promise God gave to Zerubbabel. He said He will accomplish His plans for His life not by might or power, but by His Spirit. (Zecharai 4: 6)
Likewise, He promised to all Israel that He would put His spirit within them, “ and move you to follow my decrees and be careful to keep my laws.”
It is all by the Holy Spirit. Nothing can be done without it. Rebirth, revival, and resurrection, too, can only be done by the Holy Spirit. We need God’s empowerment to see it come into our lives.
CONCLUSION
Revival, resurrection, and rebirth are strong moves of God that ultimately lead a believer to repentance, righteous living, redemption, and the promise of eternal life. It can not be achieved through human power, though; it can only be done by the Holy Spirit. The Hebrew word for these powerful moves of the spirit is tchiya. It derives from the root het, yod, hei, and is closely related to the word chai, meaning life.
Application
Come upon us, Abba, bring rebirth, revival, and resurrection in any area of our lives that have been dead. Bring forth good fruit there, too.
