“What is that?” wondered our furry little friend. “Whatever it is, it does not look friendly”, he concluded further. Now on high alert, Archie prepared himself to release his mighty voice. A booming bark soon followed. So loud it was, it startled the unknown creature. Its upper body clearly moved according to Archie’s amazing sight. That only sparked Archie to bark even louder, determined and certain he was successfully chasing it away. But the yellow monster had other plans in mind.
Instead of turning around and fleeing, the monster started to move. Suddenly, two more legs appeared, and the upper body began to disconnect.
“What is this!!!” Archie began to bark even louder, now beginning to be slightly afraid. His slowly growing fear quickly left when back-up arrived in the form of his owner. The satisfaction was short-lived, though. Instead of joining him, his owner reprimanded him: “Shush, Archie boy. Be nice. It is just the postman.”
While contemplating what a postman is, Archie continued with his barking to not as powerfully. The postman approached his owner a passed him something. Instinctively, Archie chose to step in between in order to protect. And that is when a hand was slowly extended toward him. After sniffing it, it began to move toward his head, and Archie let the head rubs begin.
‘Why was he worried again?’ he wondered. All his fears dissipated. There was nothing to fear. Just another human. Using a machine to get around faster. A bicycle at that.
“Never judge someone by the way he looks or a book by the way it's covered; for inside those tattered pages, there's a lot to be discovered.” ― Steve Cosgroves (2)
