The life of the flesh is in the blood. When blood was shed, it usually brought death to the animal or person. Since blood is life-sustaining, Yahweh demanded that the Isrealites to treat it sacredly.
Through blood, covenants can be established and attributes distributed. Yahweh used covenants all throughout the Old Testament and made one final one with all who would believe in Yeshua in the New Testament. Now towards believers the forgiveness of sin is extended as written in Mattew 26: 28 (NIV).

Besides the forgiveness of sin, all else that we need for the fulfillment of our destinies is also extended: provision, empowerment, protection, healing, and so forth.
Among many instructions, we are never to eat blood with the meat of the animal. Old tribes used to eat raw organs of the prey they caught. When doing so, they believed they were gaining the attributes and power of the animal. But through that, they were actually defiling themselves. (1)

We are created in God’s image. That does not only mean that we are three-part beings, as God is the Holy Trinity. Actually, we are also like God in attributes, character, creativity, and so forth. By partaking of these rituals, we would be defiling our image in which God has created us to be. We would be yoking ourselves with lesser attributes and perverting the sacred creations of God.
