When Messiah was to come, many of those who would have eyes to see and ears to hear would not understand Him. He was to teach in parables and reveal things hidden from the beginning of the earth. Things long forgotten, yet crucial, so that one’s life goes well. Yeshua befuddled the wise of Israel with His teachings as seen in Matthew 13: 13–15 (NIV).

Yeshua introduced knowledge from ancient history. Teachings the wise of Israel should have been familiar with, the so called ancient paths mentioned in Jereiah 6: 16 (NIV), “This is what the Lord says: “Stand at the crossroads and look; ask for the ancient paths, ask where the good way is, and walk in it, and you will find rest for your souls.””
The spiritual leaders of Israel who were to see and hear were befuddled by these teachings and Yeshua. They knew not the ancient paths nor were they willing to walk upon them. They had no spiritual eyes or ears to see or hear. Their perception was dead. And that is why they were so easily deceived and had the Messiah killed.
But for those who were humble in heart and followed Yeshua even if they did not fully understand at first, yet believed He was the Messiah, eyes and ears were opened. And they could see and hear once more. And in so enter into rest — the rest of the Lord. No more striving, now all they were left with was thriving. For the rest of the Lord is no other than His amazing grace that partners and empowers us to fulfill all we have been tasked to do. And secured it was for us on the Cross at Calvary.
