Isaac beget Jacob, who was later renamed Israel. After a famine hit the land they went sojourning in, they left to settle in Egypt. They were favored at first because of Joseph. But when a new Pharaoh arose, one who knew Joseph not, they fell from the position of favor and honor. They were treated harshly as slaves. But God heard their cries. He heard their sighs and so He sent Moses to deliver them.
Moses guided them out of Egypt into the desert. And there in the desert tested was Israel. Tested was their faith in the God that saved them. Among the many enemies they had to deal with happened to be the nation of Moab. And they chose to deal with Israel wickedly. They sent for Balaam to curse them. But though he was willing, only the words of the Most High he ended up speaking. And they happened to be blessings instead. Among them was also a prophecy. A prophecy of a star that would rise in Israel and defeat Moab and all its enemies. The very star that was birthed to Mary and Joseph in Bethlehem. None other than Yeshua as can be read in Matthew 2: 9 (NIV). (1)

Stars were designed to give light and to divide day from night. And in like manner, Yeshua divided light from darkness and goats from sheep. Goats for eternal darkness and sheep for His Kingdom of Light. It may not look so at the present moment. At times it may look like the darkness is winning and prospering, but let us not grow weary in doing good, and let us not become envious of the wicked, for in due time we will all reap the seeds we sowed.
